According to the Florida Highway Patrol arrest report, Clay County fireman John Taylor got into an argument with Edward Negron, who was in the back seat of a crew-cab pickup truck. Troopers said Negron reached out the window and punched Taylor in the face.
The Highway Patrol said Taylor jumped on the running bar, and tried to punch Negron through the window. He fell off the truck, and was run over by the back tire, troopers said.
Jacksonville Fire Rescue fireman Todd Hardin, another passenger, yelled at the driver, Robert Hood, to take off, and troopers stopped him on County Road 215, according to FHP.
Hood was charged with leaving the scene of a crash with serious injuries. Negron was charged with battery. Hardin was arrested as an accessory, for urging Hood to drive off.
