“Earlier this month, we wore red to show the Public Health, Environment, Civil Rights, and Engagement Committee that the city of Minneapolis supports strippers. Yesterday, the Minneapolis City Council, in their words, (red) dress, and UNANIMOUS vote to amend the city’s adult entertainment ordinance, said: we do too.
This ordinance sets health and safety standards for and combats economic exploitation in the local stripping industry. This is not just an addendum. Minneapolis is writing a new chapter for workers in the stripping industry.
We are sending a special thanks to Council Members Cameron Gordon and Linea Palmisano for authoring the ordinance, and Council Members Phillipe Cunningham, Andrea Jenkins, Jeremiah Bey Ellison, and Lisa Bender for expressing their support of sex worker’s rights in the city of Minneapolis. Thank your council member for their vote!
We will never stop fighting for a world in which all people in the sex trades flourish. Thank you to all the workers that shared their truths and to all our allies and accomplices!”
